Update to licensing qualifications

HABC Logo Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) has made updates to the HABC Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF) in light of changes recently made by the UK’s Chief Medical Officer to alcohol consumption guidelines .

We have reviewed and updated the  qualifications and examination papers in line with the new legislation and guidelines and, as such, have developed and released new exam papers.  Consequently, papers with the following paper code have been withdrawn:

  • PLH2015

Learners who undertake exams with papers that have the above paper code will not be negatively affected by this change up to and including 31 January 2016 .

However, Centres that currently hold unused stock of the above paper code will be able to return them to Highfield to be replaced free of charge.  The deadline to return these is 1 March 2016 .  Please contact your Highfield account manager to arrange this.

The use of papers with this examination code after 31 January 2016 is prohibited, and we would urge Centres to contact us to replace these. If any examination papers with this code are unreturned after this date, we would kindly request that they are destroyed.

If you have any queries, please contact your account manager directly.

Review into UK demand for IADT

HABC Logo Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) is currently undertaking a review of our HABC Level 3 International Award in Delivering Training (IADT) to see if there is demand for a UK equivalent.

The IADT is designed for learners who train others, with a focus on excellence in delivery and the effective use of interactive visual aids to inspire and motivate learners.  It is suitable for both experienced and new trainers who wish to improve their performance and obtain a training qualification which will enable them to deliver Highfield qualifications.

As part of this review, we would like to establish if there is sufficient demand for us to develop a UK-regulated version. This would be for learners who are not required to achieve any of the existing education and training qualifications currently available to them.

If you wish to register your interest in the development of this qualification, please contact your account manager.

Please note that UK learners can still register on the HABC Level 3 International Award in Delivering Training (IADT) until 31 May 2016 and must complete the qualification no later than 31 May 2017.

SIA announces changes to security licence applications

sia-logo The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has announced a series of changes aimed to simply and improve the process of applying for a security licence.

The changes, which are due to be implemented this spring, are part of a ‘digital by default’ approach that will see applications and renewals completed entirely online.

The key changes include:

  • New services for approved contractors ( Licence Management and Licence Assist ), which will provide businesses with greater control of the licensing of their employees, along with special permissions to carry out certain tasks
  • Allowing other businesses to pay for licence applications with the SIA’s Licence Pay Only service, as well as create customised ‘watch lists’ on their improved Licence Status Checker to monitor the licence status of the individuals they are interested in
  • Removing bulk paper applications and telephone renewals
  • Managing the majority of their queries online, with a call handling centre for complex queries
  • Licence applications and renewals to be completed entirely online.

A full presentation outlining the changes is available here .

There is also a suite of information concerning the changes on the SIA’s website ( www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk ).
